Our Pastors

CHAD WRIGHT
Pastor

Born and raised in the Body of Christ in the Houston Assembly, I received the Holy Ghost in 1984 at the age of 7.
I did not initially recognize the call to the ministry on my life. But the Lord used influential men around me that could see God’s hand on my life.
They began to encourage me to yield to this calling.
I have spent the last 25 plus years training and laboring under the skillful leadership of Bro. Billy Brown and Bro. Gary Wright.
During this time, the Lord gave me a wonderful wife, Shaelyne Gregory.
In 2015, we began pastoring the church in Tomball.
Together, with our 3 beautiful daughters, we are pastoring and serving the church.

BILLY BROWN
Senior Pastor

During the depression year of 1934 I was born in the east Texas farm country and at the age of 10 was gloriously saved in a cornfield prayer meeting. Once filled with the Holy Ghost in another outdoor prayer meeting, immediately I felt a call to the ministry. When God brought me to this church in 1953, I felt captivated by the deep teachings of the Word of God, which I had heard little of before. Also, I found a wife, Hazel Fairchild, who lived with me for 12 years before she died. As I served and learned under the wise leadership of Bro. C. N. Patton, God put me in the ministry and gave me another wife, Sonja Nilson, from the church. Together we have served the church these 40 years, teaching the things that pertain unto life and godliness. We are blessed with a daughter, 2 granddaughters and 1 grandson.

Former Pastors

CLYDE PATTON
Founder

Clyde Napoleon Patton was the founding pastor of Houston Area Gospel Assembly Church. He was born March 30, 1918, in Whitt, Texas and grew up in that area. He received the baptism of the Holy Ghost in 1936 at the age of eighteen. He married Otella Johnston, who received the Holy Ghost at the same time. They had three children, Darwin, Dueana, and Darlene. He was introduced to the Body of Christ and brought the message to Houston in 1947.
The church was established in Port Houston and grew and prospered until 1961, when it moved to what had been the Second Baptist Church at Milam and McGowan Streets in downtown Houston. It flourished there until 1970.
During that time, Billy Brown was ordained assistant pastor. Then the church made another move to 8712Airline. Clyde Patton continued his ministry there until his death on May 2, 1994.

GARY WRIGHT
Pastor 2012 - August 2022

My wife and I have been in the Body of Christ our entire life.
Some 55 years ago my parents, Bro. George and Sis. Marian Wright came into the church. Becky’s parents, Bro. Tom and Sis. Bessie Wilkerson ministered in the Body of Christ until his death in 2005. We were married in June of 1972 at the Houston church by Bro. Billy Brown.
We are blessed with 1 son and 3 granddaughters.
I began to feel a call to the ministry in 1972 about the same time we were married. In 1977 Bro. Clyde Patton asked us to become elders over a group of people in the Houston church.
In 1985 Bro. Clyde Patton asked us to start a satellite church in the Oak Forest area of Houston. A few years later we began to pastor the Tomball church.
In August 2022, I turned the Humble church over to my son, Chad Wright.
